Social Justice And Racism?

Conservative Review on Racism

When it comes to racist and what’s wrong or right it’s a lot of opinions that liberals like me disagree with. Race is something that people all around the world deal with every day. I believe that racism is a bigger topic in the liberal community because most people who deal with these things are politically liberal. As while most conservatives do not discuss the issue enough in today’s world. I pulled two articles to fully explain how some conservatives really think about the topic of racism. The first article is discussing how conservatives really think, I will use the statements and examples given to disagree with conservatives instead of actually using the whole article itself. The second article being used is used to disagree with the article as a whole, the article states how a conservative drops a “Truth” bomb on racism? In my option there is no truth to racism, what is wrong will always be wrong. Both these articles discuss how conservatives really think as a whole.

The first article is from a website named “ThinkCo”, the article is written by a writer named Marcus Hawkins. In the article Hawkins stated examples of how conservatives think towards the issue, I will disagree with the given examples as a whole. To support my argument Hawkins states, “When attention is spent on race, conservatives believe no good can come from it.” I disagree with this because if attention is not spent on racism then history could repeat itself. Just because conservatives do not believe that we should not spend so much time discussing it does not mean we as a country will gain anything from it. Whatever is not brought to light or brought up will go unnoticed and racism should not be an issue that goes unnoticed. An issue like this never becomes “too much” to discuss. Another thing that was stated by the article was “Conservatives are much less apt to adopt sympathetic attitudes toward minorities based on their race alone… exists to begin with and base their policies on that assumption. Therefore, when it comes to an issue like “hate crimes,”… conservatives disagree with the notion entirely.” I disagree with this as well because hate crimes are real, hate crimes happen all over the world every day. A hate crime is a crime against a certain person because of their race, religion, or even gender. An example would be the latest case that happened on February 10, 2020 when there was a church bombing in Louisiana. Not only was this a race hate crime but it was also a religious hate crime. The author even explains how the idea of more or less justice doesn’t really make sense to conservatives, since conservatives only believe it can only be one form of justice as a whole. I believe that sometimes in the justice system certain cases get handled differently compared to others. A prime example of these types of justice cases would be when an African American man gets a higher sentence compared to others such as a white American. For conservatives to believe that we as a country only has one justice system is unbelievable because we see so many things get brushed under the rug. An example of this would be to think of a person who may have lost a loved one who has been gunned down by a police officer, but the family does not receive the justice they deserve. Overall, I disagree with the way conservatives think because so much goes unnoticed in today’s world, it’s some many bigger pictures and topics that should be discussed.

The second article came from a website called “townhall”, it was written by an author named Beth Bauman. The article just explains how a conservative explains there “truth” about racism. To go deeper with her topic Bauman states a woman named Candace Owens who simply explains how the “left” overuses the word racism to scare voters. The article states “The Democrats have figured out that fear absolutely dominates black people politically, to the point of socioeconomic paralysis. Racism has pretty much become our boogie man.” I disagree with this because the term racism has not made us vote for democrats but the simple fact that we as a whole country want change, as well as does not want to see history repeat itself, they understand that. I disagree with this as well because it’s not a socioeconomic paralysis but really an issue.  Furthermore, Bauman goes on to explain how democrats are liars. Later on, in the article it states “We are not — I repeat, we are not — living through the Civil Rights era. And we need to stop acting like we are…America, despite what CNN may tell you, is not a racist country.” Once again i disagree with this statement because we may not be living in the civil rights movement but things that were occurring then are occurring now sadly and it’s a whole different era. Also, America is a racist country even if we don’t want to admit it, we see immigrants everyday get treated poorly along with even poor work pay. Bauman goes on to explain how overall, people don’t see the lies of the liberal party. When in conclusion liberals are the ones really fighting for topics like this.

In conclusion, conservatives will always think the topic of racism is overrated or that it’s better things to be discussed just because things have gotten just a little better. When in all honesty racism still is a problem. We have an openly racist president, so I’m not surprised.
